This afternoon, a jury in Manhattan found Ross Ulbricht guilty of seven charges related to his role in the foundation and operation of the black market website Silk Road. Ulbricht was found guilty on federal charges ranging from narcotics trafficking to money laundering conspiracy, and now he faces life in prison.

And while much of the trial is focused on Ulbricht himself, those following the saga say that the case could have wide-ranging implications on the Internet as a whole.
