For one horrifying minute I thought Derrick was promoting Curtis Yarvin... blame it on my morning brain fog. Something about this Curtis Yarvin guy gives me the creeps - he comes across as arrogant, pseudo intellectual, a slightly ridiculous poseur. I first came across him on an Unherd interview - I wanted to listen to the whole thing before making my mind up about him, but could not stomach more than 15 mins. Had no idea he was influencing the likes of Vance, but it does make a kind of dystopian sense.
Sadly I keep talking to people who admire Vance and the rest of the Trump circus - people who have either recently "woken up from being woke" or who think "Yay! Our people have the power at last!" For me, Derrick is a sadly rare voice of sanity, and I'm so impressed that he's been onto this "Dark Enlightenment" nonsense since 2016.
