I like Monero as one of the privacy layers above Bitcoin, but it doesn't solve the problem of using a money no one could create more of with transparency.

I'm not sure I understand. Monero operates just fine on its own. Bitcoinhas been co-opted. I say this as someone who was reporting on BTC in 2012 and received my first transaction in 2013.

Many attempts to co-opt Bitcoin have existed and will always exist, they can't succeed if stays decentralized and secure as it is. Bitcoin in self-custody is real Bitcoin. Read Jesse Myer's Once in a Species (I will put the link below) to understand why humanity has always searched for a perfectly scarce money and that's Bitcoin; it's a very interesting article. Monero can be used as a strong privacy tool for spending, it's very useful, but since it has tail emissions forever and its privacy features makes it less auditable, it doesn't qualify as such perfectly scarce money to measure the wealth of the world (in a world where fiat has already disappeared).

I don't think you understand what we are facing if you dont think any currency should be private default. I don't see why we need to "measure the wealth of the world".

I will take privacy by default over NGU

What we are facing are the symptoms of money creation by elites. To protect their privilege, they need to control more and more, attack privacy, freedom, etc. The cause of everything is money creation; if we fix this, by stop accepting fiat and adopting a money no one could create more of (which means an honest measurement tool), almost all those symptoms will disappear.

By the way, we are on the same page regarding the war. It's also a symptom of the system.
