Dear Derrick,

Speculation: Seems like a concealed and effective maneuver to "pork barrel" the "bottled" water industry in Houston, possibly through un-justified city supplier contracts as well as general public intended mis-perception.

Question: was this maneuver enabled/accompanied by "kickbacks?"

Thank you,

Pat Baum

from the journalism:

“I don’t think it was a formal decision,” she added.

The City of Houston has never publicly acknowledged they are not adding fluoride chemicals to the municipal water supply."

OF Course they never acknowledged, that would have been costly to the "bottled" water industry.

So, Wondering ~

Without a "formal" decision, no public acknowledgment would need be made. Resulting in no information or announcement to dispose all water consumers to believe their City supplied water was now suitable for drinking. Consumers of course would remain divided in their assessment as to the consequence of no added flouride water for drinking, cooking, showering. Some would regard this as a)harmful, b)of no health effect, or c)healthful.

A percentage of consumers in category c) would be those likely already to have made a market-safety decision to avoid drinking city water for self, family, business, and instead were purchasing and drinking "bottled" or otherwise-supplied water assumed to be safer (lower levels of flouride, no added flouride).

Were they supplied now with the Truth, a significant subset of consumers in category c) would cease paying for "bottled" water and return to using/drinking city water, now announced and known to be uncontaminated...

...Consequently at a measurable cost and loss of sales revenue to the non-municipal water industry.

By the concealing of the truth, sellers of "bottled" water could retain their market share, as deceived consumers would continue to "pay the price" to avoid what some still thought to be contaminated water.

How conveniently profitable to that industry for the city servants to remain mum.

Quite an unsupported "gift" to the water industry, a situation where payoffs for such mum behaviour could be contemplated.

Yay!! This is terrific. I had no idea. I have fluorosis on my teeth due to ingesting too much fluoride as a child. I never knew what the spots were on my teeth until a dentist in Houston told me what it was and what caused it. Now, whether or not my IQ was dropped because of the ingestion of fluoride, I'll never know. I'm not an Einstein, but I'm also not a dumbass. So, I guess a large majority of my IQ is still intact.
